I didn't understand this game at all, but I'm sure it has deep and important meaning. If you don't mind could you explain it to me? Amazing game overall, I love it!
hi, i didn't watch your video but i'll answer your question in two ways.
So literally what happens in the story is a transgender kid who has a bad relationship with their mother finds out that their mom (who they haven't seen in years) replaced them with an android of them pre-transition. they kill their mom after confronting them. the detective investigating the murder goes home to her own child android, who is a replacement for her dead child that she also had a bad relationship with. the detective shoots her android, feeling the guilt of replacing her child with a "ideal" version of her child.
On a deeper level, it's about someone being replaced by someone else's "ideal" of what they want that person to be. There are a lot of specific points of inspiration I had writing this, from AI image generators stealing people's artwork, to my own relationship with my mom. It's not intended to be a "trans story" specifically (I think feeling unseen or disrespected by people you care about is a universal experience) but I bet most people saying it hit close to home in the comments are trans or gay people who understand the feeling of your parents or loved ones not really seeing you for who you are, rather seeing you as they want to see you.
This was an awesome story to read through! I really love how the music ties into the events of the game and how well the character's facial expressions are drawn!
Loved the first act and then the second act added so much to the story and what you can take from it. Amazing writing and the visual style is gorgeous, all those cinematics, just a really cool experience.
Shout out also to the music, so subtle yet unnerving.
(only thing for me: the J-button is an unusual choice to continue the text but I guess that’s mainly to do with the game actually being designed for the gameboy so no biggie)
Brilliant story and artwork but it had soooo much potential I think if you continue developing it adding choices and more story and making the detective the mc would be so good
Maybe, but why? I liked the game and would definitely want to see more of this world, but this game felt pretty complete. It told a pretty clear, tragic story, and part of the beauty of that story was its brutal simplicity.
This is like a comic you can read on the gameboy. There are no choices or different endings. Either way, the story is very interesting and the art is top notch.
This game way pretty dark and It hits totally different with how fast AI is progressing in the real world. Hope this game isn't foreshadowing our future
i love this! i loved the twist it left me frozen, and honestly i get this, my mother uses my deadname 24/7 even though I’ve been out close to 4 years and if she had something reminding her of what i looked like i would be pretty upset too
oh....OH. This was incredible. my heart is broken: The script, the writing, the art... This really hit close to home, especially with how things are going for me. Thank you for this amazing piece of art!
Excellent story telling, especially in establishing how "different" the detective's kid is. The oddly formal manner in which they speak and the fact that they don't eat at dinner are miniscule details that still allow the player to quickly infer what the situation is based on the ealier context of the game. Can't wait to see what more you'll accomplish in the future!

Short and powerful. Wasn't expecting the twist at the end. Loved the art style!
I love the art style and the game, it was really nice and related to it. On a different note, Maria looks WAY TOO MUCH LIKE ME, it is actually scary.

Very poignant. Hits very, very close to home.
it's short sweet and beautiful, well done
great art, but the constant black cuts are really jarring and kinda nauseating, atleast for me.
Beautiful art

why? bc I'd like to see more of this artstyle and storytelling and brutallness aka bc I liked the story and want more

felt on honestly too many levels, being paraded around as an idealisation is a real fear, and i fucking loved this <3
The storytelling is so good

loved the game!! :D if you ever need, i'd love to translate in french for you (for free), hit me up if you'd like that :))
Great story, loved the twist!
thanks a lot!
This story was incredible! I loved how everything unfolded. The art, music, and writing were great! The story was amazing.
thank you for playing!
damn.... I... why... it's beautiful but so sad-- my mom would always use my deadname, never Felix
but the one I hated, I didn't recognize... damn
Amazing story, honestly I want to cry. I feel like my mom would also be happier if I would be replaced by an android better than me.
Well, that was a punch in the gut. And an amazing one at that. Respect to both of you, the story and art are incredible.
best story art in a long while - so well done. and yeah…the eyes in the window was 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
thank you so much for sharing this work with us.
For everyone who struggles with pressing start - try left alt.
This story is marvelous in terms of brevity. It may be very short in the terms of wordcount. But it haunts your for a long time after.
I felt raw emotions in my raw imperfect meat. Thank you.
oh....OH. This was incredible. my heart is broken: The script, the writing, the art... This really hit close to home, especially with how things are going for me. Thank you for this amazing piece of art!
thank you for the kind words! i'm glad (and also sorry) it was able to touch you.
I did play it now, heh. I understand it, pretty hard.
I want to play, but I can't :C

This was a pretty sad story.

i don't have a chromebook, but try pressing Z or J
z worked!! tysm :D
